At the end of September we took our RV to Lake Raystown Resort and Conference Center in Pennsylvania. Lake Raystown is a beautiful man made lake which is overseen by the Army Corps of Engineers.
We were a little nervous about this trip because of the distance. This would be the only the second time we would stop for fuel with the RV attached. It only took us about 4 full hours to get Raystown Lake and we had traveled more time on our 6 hour hellish trip last year over the Bay Bridge to Cherrystone. That time we had found a run down diesel station by chance but we knew this time we would be traveling interstates and would have to get off. We "mapquested"- I guess that is a verb? a few truck stops and ended up in Breezewood with the big rigs. Hubby is an awesome driver and we had no problems at all and the boys were thrilled that we were fueling next to all those trucks- most of which had dogs in them!
We arrived at our site and were pleasantly surpized that when they said water front- they meant it...
We were there in the off season so there was no one around- which was the case with Cherrystone last year. We're starting to love camping in September. We've heard Raystown Lake is packed in the summer. By the size of the marinas and the skunks that visited us on the last night there we believe it! There is a water park attached to the campground as well which was closed since we went after labor day. We did however, go out on the "Proud Mary" for their Sunday Morning Breakfast cruise which was awesome and they were still very nice to us even though we were all decked out head to toe in purple! Since it rained so much on Sat. I ended up just putting G in his snowpants and letting him go...
Most of the time he was doing this...
Ham loved out site and spent a lot of time throwing rocks...
and feeding ducks...
and feeding the GIANT CARP dog food at the marina...
We will go back:)
